In 2019, 3D FIT was certain to disrupt the PPE fit test industry with a 15-second respirator fit test. The company now reports that they have broken new ground once again. Today, 3D FIT is announcing that their fit tests will be an amazing five seconds or less.
"3D FIT is getting better and better,” said Mike Gugino, 3D FIT, CEO. “We had hoped to bring the fit test time down below ten seconds, but we've exceeded our own expectations. Obviously, we were pretty excited about that. We are predicting that, in the not-too-distant future, a fit test will be closer to instantaneous."
Taking advantage of modern smart device technology, 3D FIT is positioned to revolutionize the fit test industry, with a five-second run time. "A five-second 3D FIT fit test will still be a self-administered test using your smart phone or tablet, and the test will still fit a user for an infinite number of PPE model and size combinations simultaneously," Gugino added.

"Poverty creates conditions that favor the spread of infectious diseases and prevents adequate access to prevention and care" (Global Report for Infectious Diseases of Poverty, 2012). Airborne diseases are especially prevalent in poverty-stricken regions, and often times healthcare providers (HCP) do not have access to adequate respiratory protection fit testing.
In response to the great need for quality respiratory protection fit testing in developing countries, 3D FIT is proud to announce their “Developing Country Reduced Fee Structure”.
“3D FIT recognizes the increased risk exposure to healthcare providers in developing countries due to the frequent lack of available funding for and administrative challenges associated with conventional respirator fit testing. The willingness of these healthcare providers to care for patients with airborne illnesses, often times in such dire circumstances, is awe-inspiring,” said Mike Gugino, 3D FIT, CEO. “To assist where we can, we are announcing our “Developing Countries Reduced Fee Structure”, because we want to play a role in minimizing risk of airborne disease transmission. 3D FIT wants to step in to offer respirator fit testing using devices care providers already carry in their pockets.”
When brought to market, 3D FIT will immediately offer heavily-reduced pricing to provide financial relief to frontline workers and strained healthcare systems. The company developing the most revolutionary respirator fit testing product since quantitative fit testing is ready to bring developing country’s healthcare workers online in just seconds.
“We’re beyond excited that we’ll be able to do this. We really are. We’re working as fast as we can to get this cutting edge safety technology where there is so much risk exposure. It will not only protect the workers themselves, but it will reduce disease transmission to their family members at home”, Gugino added.

The GMN Group, LLC is proud to announce that the future of respiratory protection fit testing is on the horizon.
“The 3D photographic industry has at long last provided the technology needed to make our 3D FIT technology a reality,” says Mike Gugino, GMN Group President. “We couldn’t be more excited to announce that our patent pending technology is ready for mannequin trials, and we look forward to the work ahead.”
The GMN Group plans to begin mannequin trials within the next 12 months with the University of Cincinnati and then move quickly on to human trials. Over the last 14 months, The GMN Group has consulted with scores of industry-leading experts and has been met with nothing but overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Currently, The GMN Group is open to partnership within the industry. “We have had partnership talks with a handful of highly respected companies in this space, and we are looking for the right one,” Gugino says. “NIOSH and a handful of substantial corporations have sought to utilize 3D imaging in fit testing, and we’ve finally got it. We can’t wait to start the trials. 3D FIT’s global impact will completely change this industry.”
"We expect to see regulatory compliance rates increase like never before while making costs to the employers drop dramatically," Gugino continued. "The fit test can be brought to the employee while at their work station. No more standing in lines."

On Wednesday, The GMN Group, LLC announced that 3D FIT has expanded its capabilities beyond respirator fit testing. The respirator fit test method, 3D FIT, has been positioned to drastically cut respirator fit test processing time by at least 70 percent. Mike Gugino, GMN Group President announced that the 3D FIT patent-pending technology has been expanded to include additional types of personal protective equipment (PPE).
“In 2015, the ISO Committee for Eye and Face Protection requested that the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health develop standard head forms for possible incorporation into ISO standards. Knowing that ISO had this interest, we decided to expand into the area of eye and face protection fit testing. It became obvious that 3D FIT would be an efficient means by which to enforce any future standards,” said Gugino. “Our technology is very versatile… it’s a natural fit. In response to ISO and looking into the future, we have expanded our patent filings to include eye and face protection, industrial head protection, hand protection and other protective clothing.”
3D FIT plans to execute numerous human trial studies at the same time. “Because eye and face, industrial head protection and respiratory protection all involve 3D imaging of the human head, we plan to collect one set of data and use that to perform three different human trial studies simultaneously,” Gugino added. “We expect to be very busy in the next year.”
As logic would have it, 3D FIT is also poised to fit a user to multiple types of PPE with one 3D image. “Once we have a user’s image, we can not only fit for multiple respirators, but we’ll be able to fit them for proper eye protection, head protection and face protection all at the same time. All of these things will be done in under 60 seconds. It’s truly amazing. It’s going to not only save time, but employers are going to save a lot of money,” Gugino said. “Given these developments, the search for a partner has just expanded for The GMN Group.”
